Ali travels to Washington D.C. – the return of professional squash

Our head pro, Ali Loke, currently ranked 84 in the world, recently travelled to Washington D.C. to take part in one of the first international tournaments for professional squash players since the start of the pandemic.

Ali Loke, Swavesey Squash Club head pro, competing at the Squash On Fire Open in Washington D.C.

Ali bowed out to a French player ranked slightly higher than her in the rankings, losing 3-1.

Understandably, given the lack of competitive play over the past year or so, Ali lacked match sharpness and was disappointed not to play her absolute best. However, she is looking forward to the return of professional tournaments and training back at Swavesey to prepare for her next competition!

Many of the club members were able to support Ali from afar by watching her match which was streamed live on YouTube. Pretty exciting stuff! You can catch up on her match here.
